This piece covers computer architecture at the instruction set
architecture (ISA) and system design levels. Starting with foundation
material on data representation and computer arithmetic, the book moves
through the basic components of a computer architecture, covering topics
at increasing levels of complexity up through CISC, network architecture,
and parallel architecture. The authors have adopted the use of a SPARC-subset
for an instructional ISA called "ARC" (A RISC Computer), which is carried
through the mainstream of the book, and is complemented with
platform-independent software tools that simulate the ARC ISA as well as
the MIPS and x86 (Pentium) ISAs.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
Choice of the instruction set architecture (ISA).
The mainstream ISA "ARC" is a subset of the commercial SPARC, which
strikes a balance between the complexity of a real-world architecture and
the need for a simple instructional ISA.Simulators and assemblers run an
PCs, Macs, and Unix.
Over 400 Adobe Acrobat slides
Simplify lecture preparation.
Password-protected area of Companion Website.
Case studies.
Over 200 homework problems.
The major portion of the text deals with a high level look at computer
architecture, while the appendices and case studies cover lower level,
technology-dependent aspects.
Allows computer architecture to be studied at all levels.

Algorithms
By Dasgupta and Vazirani
[336 pages, 2 MB]
This text,
extensively class-tested over a decade at UC Berkeley and UC
San Diego, explains the fundamentals of algorithms in a story
line that makes the material enjoyable and easy to digest.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the crisp mathematical
idea behind each algorithm, in a manner that is intuitive and
rigorous without being unduly formal.
Features
include: The use of boxes to strengthen the narrative:
pieces that provide historical context, descriptions of how
the algorithms are used in practice, and excursions for the
mathematically sophisticated. Carefully chosen advanced
topics that can be skipped in a standard one-semester course,
but can be covered in an advanced algorithms course or in a
more leisurely two-semester sequence.

Microcontroller: Architecture, Programming & Applications
By Ayala
[255 pages, 6.5 MB]
Gain valuable assembly code
programming knowledge with the help of this newly revised book. Readers will
be trained on programming the Intel 8051 microcontroller, one of the most
common microprocessors used in controls or instrumentation applications that
use assembly code. The third edition teaches current principles of computer
architecture including simulation and programming, with new state-of-the-art
integrated development software that is included at the back of the book.
The writing style engages readers and renders even complex topics easy to
absorb. Practical examples of assembly code instructions illustrate how
these instructions function. Complex hardware and software application
examples are also provided.

Schaum’s
Outline of Programming with C
Publisher: McGraw-Hill | 1996-06-01 | 532 Pages | ISBN: 0070240353 | PDF | 9
MB
The broad, yet in-depth coverage of C programming language, within the
context of today’s C programming style, makes this book as useful for
practicing professionals as it is for beginning programmers. This study
guide solves many sample problems using other programming languages so
readers can compare several popular languages. It also includes clear
explanations of most of the features in the current ANSI standard. The
emphasis throughout is on designing clear, legible, modular and efficient
programs.
A Teaching Reference, And A Great Book
C is not a large language, there’s not a lot to remember a far as
conditionals, types, etc… but there is much to learn. This book gives only
the facts and not dogma or methodologies, and the examples are to the point
as they should be. This book really should be hardbound and sitting next to
your copy of The C Programming language by DR and BK. This manila tome is
truly one of the hidden gems you can get for 15 bucks. Use it until the
pages fall apart, by then you will have assimilated it’s worthwhile
knowledge.
You really have to enjoy this book for it’s straightforwardness. If you like
the “Dummies” series, this book will progress a bit too fast for you, for it
is rather complete in it’s description of the language features. But if you
read and digest technical matters in one or two (or three) gulps, you’ll
benefit from this book.
